'Horus'

Glenda Mac Naughton (2001)

This original, hand-crafted beaded neckpiece features a double-sided image of Horus, the falcon-headed god in the cosmology of ancient Egypt.

Horus was the son of Isis and Osiris (ruler of the dead) and the three together represent life after death and the defeat of evil. Hailed as 'lord of the sky', Horus was linked with Mars, Jupiter and Saturn; and was believed to hold up the sun and the moon.

Glenda's timeless Horus combines a mythical figure , traditional beadweaving stiches and modern tubular seed beeds.
